Portugal? Cyprus? 3 female student travelers need help w/ destination and budget and safety related questions

hello!!

I am a student and am planning a trip for the first week of April. There will be 3-4 girls and we are hoping to plan a nice warm and sunny vacation! However we are having trouble picking a spot...

We have considered the Canary Islands, Cyprus, and Portugal. We want to be in a safe place, and arent quite sure the canary islands fit that description. I am having trouble finding GOOD guides on the islands too.

Any info/help?

what about Malta? or Marrakech?

we are also on a studnet budget, and hoping to find a nice clean SAFE hotel/hostel for about 60-80 USD, 30-40 GBP a night. Possibly 100 USD, 50 GBP

In Portugal you would definitely be able to find a decent hotel for 80 to 100€ per night for two. We found acceptable accomodations for less than that.

Hi ST - You're really not guaranteed warm/sunny anywhere in Europe as early as that.

My suggestion would be the Red Sea, e.g. Naama Bay.

It will be in the 30C's in April ...

Weatherwise Canaries would be best. I have been in April to both Cyprus and Marrakesh, and the nights can still be freezing cold (I needed wool mittens). And Cyprus is expensive.

I would say Portugal. Not beach weather, but nice enough, and prices would fit your budget.

I donīt know what you consider a GOOD guide, but I find good enough guides just by writing "Canary islands tourism" to Google. Remember that there are five islands, all very different: Tenerife, Grand Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro. So if you choose the Canaries, it plays a big role which island it is.

Cyprus is not expensive once you are there although going anywhere in the first week of April which is Easter is going to be expensive and availability will be limited.
