La Chassagnette

Some one asked if this restaurant with an organic farm in the Camargue still existed .
Yes!!
La ChASSAGNETTE is still there as well as the farm with a new chef who gets rave reviews. I was disappointed in l'Atelier, though everyone likes it, it seems . He's trying too hard to fall into the Spanish chef, Fernan Adria's innovations. Two of our servings had foam. Adria is closing his restaurant this year.

Interesting. I loved La Chassagnette. Does the new chef follow the same formula as Jean-Luc?

I haven't been back but I read he did. Before Rubanel's dishes were served in organic like presentations, now at L' Atelier, the table ware is very modern. This reminded me of time I treated my late husband to lunch (The most expensive I ever paid) at the Auberge de Eriden , Chef Feyat on Lac Annecy to celebrate my husband retirement. Every thing looked edible where the food served with the apertifs. My husband loved good dining but Without my glasses I started to nibble on what I thought was food but was only the decorative, organic, looking stuff that the food was serve on..
I'll never forget that day when he said: no, no mimi, that is not food.!

We ate at La Chassagnette when Rubanel was the chef and loved it...a totally wonderful experience.

We then went to L'Atelier, after he opened in Arles, and were somewhat disappointed......I agree with Mimi..he seemed to be trying too hard.

Unfortunately the day we were going to be in that area, they were closed. I think it was Tuesday or Wednesday.

Our trip was divine---3 weeks in Provence for the 4th time......I am still completely in love with Les Apilles.....and look forward to returning next year.
