June Italy trip

My husband and two children ( 21 and 18) will be traveling to Italy in June for 18 days. We have a tentative itinerary and would love to hear comments and suggestions from the message board. We also are in need of hotels for all the places we are visiting. We would like hotels with air conditioning, private baths and good locations, if possible. Ambience would also be nice.
We plan to spend 3-4 days in Rome; 2 days in Sienna; 3 days in Florence; 3 days in Venice; 3 days in the Dolomites (with family); and 3 days in Switzerland (with family). We would appreciate any advise or suggestions.

Wendy, That is a very tall order. It would take an hour to answer that well.
I suggest you search on this board for hotels by entering " Florence hotels" etc. And, go to slowtrav.com and look under Italy--then planning--and find some sample itineraries and other trip planning advice. Also, what is your budget for hotels--quads or 2 rooms? Your trip looks great but it will take some time and work to complete.

There is a wealth of information here on all the locations you name. If you can do a search above in the "Search" box above you'll get many comments. For example, to research comments about Rome hotels type in "hotels and Rome".
Only thing is what part of Switzerland do you wish to visit?

Oh, sorry, I didn't realize you meant that you'll be staying with family in Switzerland and the Dolomites.

I agree that you need to state your budget.

Hi wendy,

I suggest that rather than staying in both Siena and Florence that you choose one of them and visit the other. It's only about an hour by bus.
