Itinerary Question

Hi! We're thinking of going to Italy between March-May, and hoping to stay for 2 weeks, traveling from Rome, Florence, then to Venice. Is this schedule doable, or too much? BTW, we also have a toddler. Thanks!

I would say it is perfect for 3 destinations. I would do:

5 days Rome
5 days Florence including day trips Siena, Lucca, Pisa etc..)
4 days Venice

You might fry into Rome and out of Venice or viceversa

Two weeks is perfect for a visit to Rome, Florence, and Venice, with or without a toddler.

It's certainly doable and quite easily. But do bear in mind that your toddler will restrict your active time: s/he will need things like naps, etc.

But consider doing only two of the cities, with a week in each in a self-catering apartment. Easier on the toddler, and probably easier on you as well. If it's not high season (which May is), you might be able to rent for less than a week and do all three cities.

And definitely do an open-jaw flight: into one city and out of another to avoid backtracking.

There's a long and informative thread about traveling with a toddler on the message board at

Thank you so much for the info. We're definitely flying into Rome, out of Venice. I was worried if it was realistic time frame. My toddler is a great traveler--last year he was on a flight to Hawaii 3x, Asia 1x, and East Coast 1x. We were able to travel so often because he was so good and happy all the time. But we also took our time in these trips. Thanks again!

we also have 2 kids, now 10 and 4 but they have always travelled with us. We took our daughter from Europe to Australia when she was 5 months old, flying total 9 flights in 16 days with no problems !!
