Italy to Greece
Hi! We are (3) 30-something females traveling to Amalfi Coast, Positano, and Capri Italy, then would like to go to Santorini & Mykonos, Greece. Any suggestions on how to get to each of these the quickest and easiest? Had such great advice from the Asia Forums when going to Thailand, hoping have as much great advice on the Europe Forum!

Hi
You could fly from Naples to Athens. I checked Alitalia. Not exactly cheap - 338 quid (in September)! Flight time is 3hrs 35min. There may be a cheaper fare others know about. Then from Athens depending on the air schedules you could either fly on to Santorini or Mykonos. Check Aegean Air's sale fares or try Olympic Air. Otherwise if air schedules don't work out, from the airport take the metro to Piraeus for a ferry to Mykonos, then ferry to Santorini then fly back to Athens.

There is a discount carrier whose name I've forgotten that flies Naples-Athens, but it's in a very small plane. I researched this for our trip this summer. I think the Alitalia flight- as I remember it- stops in Rome before heading to Naples, which is why it takes so long.
Otherwise, the only way to do it is Rome-Athens ( take Aegean, far superior to Alitalia!), then a connecting flight or ferry/hydrofoil to the islands.
BTW, I only found out this summer that there is a 'fast' train -faster than the Eurostar- between Naples and Rome. It takes just over an hour between the two. So that's what you could do if you decide to fly Rome-Athens.

I was curious about this, so just checked ALITALIA. They do offer a nonstop from Naples to Athens that only takes 1 hour, 40 minutes most days in September. I was looking for flights in early June, which I guess is why most planes were stopping in Rome first before going either to Naples ( if you are coming from Athens) or Athens ( if you're coming from Naples). Sorry for the confusion!

Gee Weadles you must have the lucky touch
I looked at Alitalia but couldn't find the direct flight to Athens. Only via Rome. My attempt was for September too. 1 hour, 40 minutes is a short flight. If by luck it "shoehorns" in with Greek air schedules to Santorini the OP is in luck.
