I will be traveling from rome to florence to venice and then milan by train in late may early june. If i buy tickets on the eurostar train will the reservation be included in the price or is it extra? If not, do you think reservations are necessary during this time?
Thanks

You have to reserve a seat on all Eurostar trains. Must be booked before you travel. 2nd class very comfortable - no need to book 1st class. A supplement is charged on the Eurostar for booking your seat.
Wonderful way to travel through Italy.

You must punch your ticket on the orange box on the platform before going on the train.
Hope this info helps.
Isobel.

Whether the trains are fully booked will depend mainly on the day and time. In most countries, weekends are the busiest times. Saturdays are busy in the holiday season, but Friday and Sunday afternoons and evenings are always busy with people going away for a weekend.

You do not have to punch your ticket for EuroStar.

You don't need to puch a Eurostar ticket in Italy because the ticket is valid ONLY for the train on the travel date printed on the ticket.

Just curious in case it happens next month. If you miss your ES train can you get your ticket changed (with a penalty) to another ES train? If so, what is the time limit and cost.
Also say you just missed your ES train could you just hop-on the next departing lower class (IC, R, etc) train as you could in the past. Regards, Walter

If you miss the Eurostar train you either have 24 hours to ask for a refund (50%) or you can make another reservation on another train (ON THE SAME LINE, without changing itinerary) by paying a new reservation (I think it is 8 euros).
OR, you can also get into Intercity or REgional or Local trains (always ON THE SAME LINE) but as they are slightly cheaper than the eurostar you cant ask for a refund for the difference. Beware: after the 24 hours have elapsed you cant ask for a refund of the eurostar ticket NOR get a new reservation.
