Italian hotels
Does anyone know any good hotels in Cinque Terre, Florence, Amalfi Coast (sorrento), and Venice. Good hotel= as cheap as possible, but must be safe and can't be dirty. I expect basic, because all we need is a bed to sleep and a place to shower. We will not have a car and there will be 5 people. Thank you! Mucho gracias! Grazie!

Try www.venere.com These guys have pretty much all the hotel listings you could ever want.
Read the reviews of hotels you're interested in. Check out the Inns and B&B options.
Always check the hotel website to see if you can get a better price.

Also look for B&Bs in the cities listed. "B&B Florence, Italy" etc. You will probably need two rooms.
If you don't mind having a curfew of about 11 or 12 pm, try monastery stays. Clean, simple rooms, breakfast, no religious ties.

we just got back from italy and used airbnb for 3 places (i posted about them here.) maybe we were lucky, but all 3 were winners and soooooooo much cheaper! in bologna, the cheapest hotel we could find by the main center was almost 300E (something must have been going on in town...) and we got a great room in a perfect location for 60E. poke around and pay close attention to the reviews... don't settle for anything less than perfect. it will probably save you a ton.

Hi,
This site is quite useful as it will search several hotel booking sites and you can compare prices for one hotel on all these sites:
http://www.hotelscombined.com/?currencyCode=USD
Good luck!
