Italian Football Tickets

I will be going to Italy for the first time in Feb/Mar. I would like to take in a football (soccer) game, but need help on how to get tickets. Thanks!

Tickets can be hard to come by, and expensive if you have to deal with a scalper/tout. So here's what to do.

First, figure out when and where you will be in Italy. Then check team schedules. Some of the stadiums like the Stadio Olimpico in Roma are very big, so you can probably find available seats at Roma or Lazio home games.

Your best bet for getting tickets is to contact your target club directly. Explain that you are a foreign visitor that is dying to see team "X" play. Often time the box office hospitality reps are very helpful.

I was able to score Arsenal Champions League tickets for an October game at "sold out" Highbury directly from the club. With a little grace and gratitude you can probably do the same.

It entirely depends on what city you're in and what match is on. SerieA's advice is good. Follow it.

Availability varies by team and game. One advantage Italy has over England or France is the size of the stadiums. The capacity of the stadiums in Rome, Milan and Turin are more than double that of any of the club sides in London.

Unless it's a big derby match (e.g. Lazio-Roma, Inter-AC Milan), you should be able to get advance tickets. Check the team's websites for ticket info. There's also the Rough Guide to European Football, which is an excellent source of info ranging from club histories to travel logistics.
