1. Suggest posting this in the Airlines forum

2. Your OP says that you are flying into LGW. Now you say LHR. Which is it? Gatwick is considerably smaller and easier to navigate.

3. Several people have suggested other airlines. Why the fixation on TAP?

4. Personally, I prefer to be in the city out of which I will be taking an expensive intercontinental flight the night before. Yes, four hours is likely enough, but you have no margin for error, and no options for a Plan B.

I wouldn’t do it with a four hour space. I really wouldn’t. As said, no margin for error, and this last flight I took was delayed three hours. No reason. They just felt like it. 8-12 hours minimum unless you have a backup plan.

You’re trying on a computer, right? For some reason, my ipad really hates some airlines, and the payment never goes through on the first try.

Well, I've tried every option on this screwed up airlines. I did find a nice roundtrip London/Lisbon ... at a perfect time. Choose seats ...gave my CC# ... and got the below response. Attempted to call. They all must be at Sunday brunch. I once gave them a number to call back, which, of course, they never did.

I am now booking a BA round-trip. Of course, they seem to go on strike when we visit, but it will be a fun story. As far as TAP, I am now Tapped out. PS - my neighbors from Portugal said that TAP is not known for their customer service. Truer words were never spoken.

I think th eissue is that he really is flying out of LHR, I don't know why the first post said he wanted to go to Gatwick since that adds on time for the transfer. BA also flies LIS-LHR at about the same price as TAP, but their flight is 20 minutes earlier. Problem is this is a long boring day at LHR, but here is no good solution to that, iit's that or arrive 12:45 pm. Normally that would be fine with most airports,I have no idea as I've only made transfers at LHR that were planned on the same ticker/airline.

There's no point in trying over and over, you'll just get continual failure. Did you ask your credit card company if they are blocking these transactions from the TAP website? Did you give them the specifics of the transactions eg amount, date etc so they can trace it? It has happened to me that my credit card company blocked a purchase with an online retailer, I called them and they unblocked it then I could complete the purchase. The question to the ccd company needs to be a bit more specific than "can I make a foreign transaction" but I guess you've already asked.

They offered you the option of paying for your booking at the ticket counter at the airport which seems perfectly reasonable.

You can contact them via Facebook and Twitter, I contact airlines using social media (although I have never tried TAP) and I usually get an answer pretty quick.

First it was Porto, now it's Lisbon. First it was LGW, now it's LHR.

Post your desired total itinerary, on the Airlines forum. And be willing to fly an airline like Easyjet.

Again, if you have an unprotected connection, flying into London the day before is the safest course.

We booked a RT Heathrow/Lisbon BA flight that arrives at 10:05 a.m. on the return trip (on the day of our 4:05 ANZ flight home). We shall hope for the best Hopefully the worst thing that will happen is paying for an extra GinTonic at Heathrow during our extended stay.
