You should be happy that I am one of few NY'ers who knows how to pronounce Ojai. With one more vowel it would look like the next to last on an eye chart.

tower hosts...IMD and we bring the food and wine. Tower makes the guacamole from those delicous avocados. I will pass on the Viagra, however.

By the way tower, our corgis would love to try organic.

Why if your dream is Italy would you say oh forget that think I'll just move to another part of America. Or is this a joke I'm not getting.

Cheska, dear....it's called ....."sense of humor"

When you come across MaiTaiTom, Imdonehere, tower, colduphere or any of several other posters, be prepared for it. Most Fodorites understand this, others are the walking dead or suffering from terminal stoicism. Have fun on Fodors, or else!!!!!!

don't apologise for that, Cheska. Even those of us who have been here a long time sometimes have difficulty getting Tower's jokes!

OK, could someone please tell the ignorant limey how to pronounce Ojia?

Boca Raton is actually New York South, Stu, not "Florida."

__________
Ojai is actually pretty easy to pronounce, it is OH-hi, like greeting someone you were trying to avoid.
___________

I would guess that 65% of my high school graduating class from Brooklyn live in Southern Florida, mostly Boca and Fort Lauderdale.

Thanks, IMD. I'll practice saying it just in case I'm ever in Southern California.

Cheska...have fun with Fodors...and welcome.
"Ann Cornwall"....please write when you're having trouble with any of the deeper fun stuff ...I will happily decipher for you. As for Ojai, there are so many Brits and South "Efricans" roaming our trails, your accent won't even be noticed. Ojai and I would love to welcome you.

Do not worry Cheska, most Americans want to appear sophisticated so they will laugh to be polite. People from Oz and Kiwis have an especially good reputation in the States.

Hello again sports fans.

After thinking about your answers and the matter in general, we were wondering if there is a town on any of the commuter lines into Rome, that is not modern, has an area of restaurants and cafes, and old streets to wonder. And after looking at rents, it looks like it would easier to rent, at least for a year and see what happens.

Thank you again for answers and patience.

IMDonehere. we had narrowed our list down to Spoleto, Lucca Arrezo or Verona. However I am now looking at Virterbo, and Padua.
We have decided as our Italian is not that great we would need a bigger town where if something seriously went wrong we could find somebody to help.
