Ireland castles: Ashford, Dromoland, or Ballynahinh--which would you choose?

Ive been doing a lot of reading about Ireland (we're going in mid-march) and am trying to figure out which castle(s) we want to splurge on. We were originally thinking about Dromoland, but then heard a lot of positive feedback on Ashford. We've also heard great things about Ballynahinch. We were originally thinking about spending one night at Ashford, but think that we may either be able to do two nights at Ashford, or one night at Ashford, and one night at another castle. What would you choose? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Lull

You may want to type Ireland in the heading or somewhere in your post! Or maybe my post will get this to the ireland board. We visited both Ashford and Ballynahinh-since we didn't want to spend the boat load of money to stay there. Ashford was indeed beautiful and the grounds are spectacular. It is in a very cute and touristy village called Cong. Ballynahinh is also beautiful but in a different way(having trouble explaining) but it is in Connemare which we found to be an area with such beautiful and montainous terrain-Most areas Ireland are beauiful but this region was our favorite-Stay a night in each!!!

I've only stayed at Ashford and it's really quite beautiful. The golf course is nothing to write home about, but it was fun. The exception to that may be the view from the 9th tee of the castle and Lough Corrib. There are boat trips on Corrib that are very nice. I think they are about an hour long.

I've never stayed at the other two. Just to confuse you, there is also Glin Castle in Co. Limerick (http://www.glincastle.com/)

Dromoland is stunning. Our room had the curved walls of the castle tower. Unbelievable everything.

We stayed at Dromoland last Nov. and fell in love with it. It was convenient to the Shannon area (we stayed our first night in the country). It was convenient to many places; the Cliffs, the Burren (sp?), etc. But the castle was gorgeous, very elegant and the staff was the best I have ever seen. Good luck!
