We stayed at the Metropole and happy with the stay. Very central location across from the park. Depending on the dates of stay, may be out of her price range.

When I was her age and backpacking through Europe, we stayed at the Funny Farm. A very fun, laid-back place.
Many people also stayed at Palmer's; I have heard great things about it as well.
I do not remember the price, but we were on a very tight budget so I know they were both affordable.

Another really nice bed and breakfast is www.sunnydays.ch. They speak English and she'll get a great breakfast. Great location too.
The Swiss haven't gone to the Euro so you'll find their prices in Swiss Francs.
100 Euros=approx. 151 Swiss Francs right now.

I stayed at Hotel Bellevue, which is located down a side street, away from the noisy roads. I stayed in a single room, and ended up with a room with a balcony that looks over River Aare. Room price included breakfast as well.
