We had a lg. family trip planned (had to be cancelled for various reasons, so never did take place) to Innsbruck last Xmastime, and we received info on daytrips to different places; Venice was one of them. The excursion bus left early in a.m. from Inns. and arrived back late that same night. So it is doable, just a long day.

Hello Dee,

Have you thought of taking an overnight train? That would be less tiring and give you more time to enjoy Venice.

Alternatively you could spend a day in the Dolomites.

In November, though, you're not guaranteed good weather. A day-trip to another city might be better, e.g. Salzburg, Munich, ...

Steve

We took the day trip to Venice from Innsbruck in February. You can arrange this through your hotel or the tourism office in Innsbruck. I think the trip is only offered on certain day(s) of the week. The bus left at 5 am and returned around 11 pm. It's about a five hour ride and they stop for dinner on the way back to Innsbruck. You only have six or seven hours in Venice, but I thought it was well worth it. It was enough time to get a small taste of Venice and know that I want to return and spend more time. And... it was a perfect oportunity to take a gondola ride and "pop the question". Now we are off to Santorini to get married.
