Kay:

The reason you haven't received any answers is because no one knows, not even Italians.

Here are the scenarios:
1. A strike occurs and none of the water taxis run (unlikely).

2. The strike occurs and some but not all taxis run (more likely).

3. The water taxis are not affected because they are private (most likely).

3. The strike is called off and the taxis run (about 50-50).

I don't want to be flippant, but what can you do to change the first two scenarios? Nothing, unless you change your plans altogether.

Santa Chiara, Thanks for answering! I guess I will find out when I get there. I was also worried about the flight because of rumors of a traffic controllers strike. Delta tells me last night it is a ground controllers strike. I am not sure I like that either, but I leave tomorrow morning. Thanks again for your help. It sounds like I can probably get a water taxi and I appreciate those positive remarks. I will be flying from 6 am, to the airport at 4 am, won't leave US until after 8pm and then to Venice, so I will be very tired and wanting to at least get my luggage to the hotel even if my room isn't ready. I will have my laptop and report back when I can. Kay
