Is there not a pretty splashy restaurant at the Louvre now?
Also have often thought a "romantic" view (if not panoramic) would be from the Tren Bleu at Gare de Lyon. Still there?
But plan on a sandwich or crepe while watching the skaters at Hotel de Ville.

Based on Michael's suggestion for La Ciel de Paris, I emailed them yesterday and they are BOOKED for dinner the evening of FEBRUARY 1st!!!
Just some perspective on how long it takes to get a reservation!
So anyone that has dined there, exactly how long does it take to get a reservation?
I'm sure we'll find something else good but I was shocked by the timing.

The ones mentionned above are a bit more 'wow'.
I agree with elberko that there are some fine places to eat in interesting surroundings. Place des Vosges (Ma Bourgogne gets mentioned often), Ile St Louis has several, Le Vieux Bistro beside Notre Dame, Cafe de Flore (food sometimes gets average rating, anything recent?) on St Germain des Pres square, les Bouquinistes by the Seine west of St Michel and several along Seine east of St Michel with Notre Dame "at the front door" (I've eaten at Montebello and Rotisserie du Beaujolais), and Chez Clement near St Michel that is in an area of narrow streets and shops.
