Inexpensive b&b in heart of Venice

Have any advice for non-smoking b&b's in heart of Venice in March?

Tons of postings here on places to stay in Venice. What is your budget?

Hi

Next door neighbours stayed at B&B Sandra - http://www.bbalessandra.com. They were very pleased and were really praising the breakfast. Please note the owner has cats so if you are allergic to them...

We stayed at a nice B&B in the Dorsoduro area:
Ca'Turelli

We booked it through www.veniceby.com; look under B&Bs.

In 2005 we paid 120 euros for a triple room and friends a week earlier paid 110 euros for a double. We were there in late May, so you may have good luck w/rates in March.

Small, clean, quiet, big & nice bathroom w/our triple and decent breakfast. I've stayed in 3 different neighborhoods in Venice and while all were wonderful, this is a convenient yet atmospheric area to be based in.

I cannot claim to have stayed in Venice but have done a lot of browsing for the same kind of accomodation that you describe for our upcoming trip in September.

I narrowed our top three down to the two described above (B&B Sandra and Ca'Turelli) and B&B Gli Angeli at http://www.gliangeli.net. We have booked Gli Angeli and think it is going to work just fine based on comments here and on venere.com.

Locando Orselo--right at St. Marks's Square. Excellent hotel and fantastic staff.

We stayed at the above mentioned B & B Sandra last year and were very pleased.
The room was spotless, breakfast fantastic and the hosts very accomodating. The only drawback is the few flights of stairs but you'll find that in most any of these kinds of accomodations.
I highly recommend it!

If you have to narrow the choice choose the one closer to the water stop. It can be a pain carrying luggage around trying to find your place. Jeri

Excuse my spelling. www.locandaorseolo.com
It is under the Bed and Breakfast category at Trip Advisor.

Tog58,

I think you will enjoy Gli Angeli. We stayed there last October, and it was fine. It was clean and convenient.

Don't, however, think of it as a true B&B. There was no breakfast served, merely a few pre-packaged rolls/pastries placed on the kitchen table. They were still there when we left, and may still be there for all I know.

BTW, if you are interested in things nautical, there is a nautical museum just on the corner by Gli Angeli. Well worth a visit, especially the collection of old Gondolas.

nukesafe,

Thanks for the comments on Gli Angeli. We did know about the breakfast limitations before we booked but still think the location, friendly service (per reviews), cleanliness and cost make up for it.

We'll keep our eye open for the nautical museum.

Casa Sul Molo, Great location only a few steps from st marcos square. Lovely 17th century venetian style decor. Nice sized comfortable rooms, marble bathrooms. LOTS of stairs, so not for the faint of heart. But then venice in general requires alot of walking. recommend small backpack luggage if possible. www.casasulmolo.com
Breakfast is nice tea, coffee or hot chocolate, and some bread and rolls, butter and jam. Third bed was a lovely stuffed chair that folded out to a small bed. Prices 90-250 Euro, depending.

By the way, you might want to verify that they arent under water in march... that sometimes (usually) happens there in winter. In that case, bring tall rubber boots. or be prepared to walk on stilt platform tables that form a sidewalk about 3 feet above the real sidewalk.
