WHy didn't you apply through WorldBridge as it says on the UK Embassy site for the Netherlands? http://ukinnl.fco.gov.uk/en/visiting-uk/visas
Do you have a phone number for the Embassy in Germany that you sent your passports to? If so I would phone them and find out what is happening, or e-mail them.
If it was WorldBridge you dealt with then phone one of the numbers on the above website for assistance It will cost you dear mind to phone them.

As a backup I would contact the Indian Embassy nearest you and advise them that the passports are missing. You need a replacement plan if necessary. Am assumong your parents' passports are Indian but my advice applies no matter the origin.

<i>'I don't understand this part, there's a British Embassy in the Hague??'</i>
Yes, but all UK visa applications have to be sumitted in Germany (UK stopped processing visas in the Netherlands several months back), and Düsseldorf Consulate is the nearest.

"And for Australia and New Zealand...the actual processing is done in Manila, Philippines. Outsourcing? Cheap labour?"
Yes to both the above.
I should damn well hope my taxes AREN'T subsidising jobs for Australians a Filipino needs more and charges less for.
