And I meant to specifically thank Randy for the detailed info about the Air France shuttle. It looks like an excellent alternative to a taxi and one to put on our "whichever comes first" transport list (Planes, Trains, Automobiles . . . Shuttlebus!)

For a difference of 15E, take the taxi. The Gare de Lyon has an exquisite Belle Epoque dining room--Le Train Bleu--that shows how the elite travelled in the late 19th and early 20th century. At least walk in and have a drink in the lounge--it opens at 11:30. then buy your lunch to take on the train at the cafe in front of the TGV tracks.

Molly, the car rental place is in a bit of an odd location in Monpellier. You have to walk all the way to the end of platform that is closest to the train station. You will then walk out onto a little road and will see a white temp building ahead. Thats where the car rental places are. I think its platform A if I recall.
