2month stay in Paris
I want to spend all of Aug and Sept in Paris. Has anyone gone about renting a place for short-term before in Paris? any links of use? recommendations? I can only spend US equiv of about $1000 per month.

I assume you mean $1000 per month for your rent, not for your total budget. If so, this can certainly be done, even in central Paris, if you are looking for a studio or even a small 1-bedroom (known as a 2-pièce). Just be prepared - everything in Paris is much smaller within the same price range than what you are probably used to in the States. However, if you are only going to be here for 2 months, I imagine you won't be spending all your time in the apartment.
I would strongly recommend looking NOW. It is often difficult to find apartments in Paris, although short-term is a little easier.
Two sites with pictures are www.lodgis.com and www.nyhabitat.com. You might also try Craig's List (www.paris.craigslist.org) and FUSAC (www.fusac.com) for short-term rentals.
Good luck with your search.

Hi,
I rented an apartment in Paris for the month of October through http://www.paristays.com. I looked through options of about 2 dozen websites and they offered the best rates for rentals over 3 weeks. I think that you could find something for approx. $1000/month in central Paris if you look at studios or small one bedrooms.
From my experience, they are an Internet based firm. All my correspondence between them was via email, and when I arrived in Paris I worked directly with the owner. I loved my apartment (it was incredible for the price) and would rent from them again.
