Ice Bar in Stockholm?

I'll be staying in the 'Old Town' section of Stockholm and heard about the Ice Bar at the Nordic Sea hotel - seems cool (no pun intended) and I wanted to check it out...is it easy to get there from Old Town? Walking distance? Cab? Train? Thank you!!

The Nordic Sea is near the Central Rail Station, about a 10-minute walk from the Old Town.

If you plan on going at a busy time like cocktail hour, you might want to make reservations. Other than that check the hours. It's not (or at least it wasn't in June 2002) open from 10am to midnight either. I stopped mid-afternoon a couple of times and it was closed.

You're right. It is really cool.

We walked to the Ice Bar after dinner in Old Town last week - it took us about 15 minutes - we went around 10pm and it was great fun - but I couldn't last more than 2 drinks even with the silver jackets I was getting cold -we had a wonderful trip in Stockholm and just returned yesterday - hoping to get my notes up this week - great food, great city, for walking and biking- our hotel has comp bikes which was fabulous and we can not wait to go back- have a blast !

escargot- what hotel did you stay at in Stockholm that had bicycles? Can you recommend some great places to eat that we should not miss? We will be there for 4 days this summer.

We stayed at the Diplomat and they have a few bikes for guests which we reserved for one of our days - But it is easy to rent bicycles if your hotel does not have them - I am sure they can recommend a place. We loved riding the bikes early in the morning thru parts of Gamla Stan and then lunch at a waterfront cafe and onto Djurgarden / Skansen -
and they rent bikes right at the end of the bridge -
we went over the bridge and took a left and rode all around the island - thru the park, up to the gardens which are gorgeous - down by the marina, up the other side past Skansen, Tivoli and down to the museum/the Vassa/ waterfront, etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day on a boat thru some of the other islands and jumped off and took the train to Millesgarden which was exceptional, and then the train back to city - we ate at some fabulous restaurants, and I am trying to put all my notes together and get it on line within the next day or so which will list it all - but we especially loved Fem Sma Hus, Pontus in the Green House and Den Glydene Freden - all in Old Town - and Operakalleran and some others in Old Town but I need my notes - there are many fine places to choose from just walking the streets in Old Town too - I am only home a day and we went were in Stockholm, Denmark and Iceland, so my notes are here there and everywhere right now and one just arrived home from college so I apologize if I'm a bit fuzzy on more details right now - but when I get my report up in the next day or so I'll repost and let you know. You will love it, we had 6 days in Stockholm and I can't wait to go back !
