How to go From Rome to Nice!?!?!

I need to go from Rome to Nice. I was hoping to find an overnight train leaving June 11th and arriving in Nice the next morning. However their are no trains that go overnight. So i thought i will find a flight from Rome to Nice early in the morning. Well the only direct flight is almost $500. And all other flights fly to paris and make me switch planes to go to Nice!!!
Can anyone help me?? I need to leave in the evening of June 11th or in the early morning of the 12th.

In fact there is a train that leaves Rome (Termini) at 23:15 on June 11 and gets to Nice at 9:54 the next morning, according to www.bahn.de.

Correct. It is train #368 and carries both couchettes and a sleeping car.

wow, i have been searching for days and this is great!! Thanks so much for your help. But one final question, it says that for those trains their is no online booking. Is their another way to do it seeing as how I am in America and it will not let me buy it online?

i believe I was a bit unclear in my last post. What I was trying to say was it is telling me to buy the tickets at the train station. What are the odds that the train will be sold out. If it is then I would be stranded. And their is no Pricing on this website. I don't know it it's $10 or $1000!!

Those of you who took this train in the past, how much did it cost? and did you get your tickets right at the station when you arrived in the city?

According to www.trenitalia.com, a berth in a two-person sleeper from Rome to Ventimiglia (just across the border from Nice) is 68.32 Euros. It appears to be possible to buy this ticket in advance and pick it up at the train station, but the pages for ordering only seem to work in Italian; if you can't navigate them, you may want to contact Trenitalia directly by phone or e-mail. I think you can wait until you get to Europe to worry about the ticket for the short ride across the border from Ventimiglia to Nice.
