From the website www.placeinthesun.co.uk (last updated Apr 7 2005) - - about 1.13 euro per liter.

You can do the math, but I think that's about $5.75 (USD) per (US) gallon.

In the period of time when US gas prices seem to have doubled, Europe's gasoline prices seem to have changed little.

Best wishes,

Rex

In Rome last week a litre of unleaded was around 1.20 euro, and around 1.10 euro for diesel.

According to this site, the average price for unleaded regular in Italy right now is 1.23 Euro per liter, which is about $6.08 per gallon.

I asked for and rented a diesel on my last trip to Italy. Cheaper fuel and better mileage -- much better mileage.

I think it was Budman whose advice I followed in requesting a diesel car in Italy last month. Largeish car -- they upgraded us -- but WHAT a difference diesel makes! Never thought driving in Italy could feel like a bargain.
