How far is it from Florence to Milan by train?

It's too expensive to fly out of Florence, so we're thinking Milan. How long would it take us to get there by train?

Go to www.trenitalia.it It will give you any schedule you want for Italy trains.

""How far is it from Florence to Milan by train?"

I'm pretty sure Florence & Milan are the same distance apart no matter which form of transport you choose

Sorry eileen, couldn't resist it! Hope you have a great trip.

Jim

The railway does not go in a straight line from Firenze to Milano, and neither do the roads, so it was a perfectly sensible question. There are many journeys where the railway takes a longer route than the road or vice versa.

That may be true - but it is also immaterial.
What the poster really wanted to know was the time involved - not the distance. (if you need to catch a flight from Milan - do you really care if it's 150 miles or 200? - or do you care if it will take 2 hours or 3?)

Eileen,

The train takes three hours. It has only one stop, in Bologna. It's a nice ride, I thoroughly enjoyed it and am planning that route for my nect trip to Italy!

JJBoy - if you read the question once again it reads, "how long would it take by train.." Wise guy!

Thank you all for you replies. My husband and I are ending our trip in Florence, but debating whether or not to fly out of Milan or Rome; hence why I asked how far it was to Milan from florence. Thanks!
