We stayed in a very small village in the Dordogne Valley called Daglan. Maybe 500 souls call it home. From what I observed, about half of them pronounced the "g" and about half of them didn't.

Don't expect a great deal of pronunciation uniformity in France.

I thought it was close but not exactly. Pay(pei)is with 2 vowels in't it? "Paix" is like Peh, with 1 vowel, to me. Peilz is pronounced just Peh.

I see "peh" as the French "pet" (fart).
