How do I get to Positano?

We will be spending a few nights in positano, coming from the south of France. I am assuming our train will arrive in Naples. What are our options for getting to Positano from there and about how much do they each cost?

Thanks!

The Circumvesuviana train will take you as far as Sorrento and you can connect with the Sita bus line into Positano. For ferry info, look at metrodelmare.com

This is not an answer to your question - - but are you aware that 74 minutes and 39 euros will get you from Nice (Nizza in Italian) to Napoli on http://www.alpieagles.com - - seems better than taking a train to me!

Best wishes,

Rex

OMG Rex, what a GREAT recommendation for her. I'll have to think of that for my next trip to Italy because I want to go back to Positano and back to Provence. Certainly much easier than the whole train, taxi, etc combination.

Of course, after arriving in Naples, you'll have to decide how to get to Positano, whether to navigate the train to Sorrento and bus to Positano, or hire a taxi. If you're going at the right time of the year, isn't there also a boat from Sorrento to Positano? I don't know for sure... as my only time there we (initially almost didn't but then changed our mind) allowed our hotel to book us a private taxi. It was like, $50 US? Well well worth it after a long day travelling and not wanting to miss one of the last buses leaving Sorrento.

TRAIN (Circumvesuviana) + BUS (Via Sorrento) - will cost € 4.50

TRAIN + FERRY (via Salerno) - will cost approx. € 10.00

Hope this helps ...

Steve

P.S. There is also a bus from Naples Airport to Sorrento (€ 6.00) if you decide to fly.
You can continue to Positano from Sorrento by bus (€ 1.50)

We had Renato Cuomo pick us up at the train station in Naples to bring us to and from Positano. It was expensive, but so worth it!
