Hotels in Spain

Trying to assess which tour to take to Spain. Need hotel info to determine best bang for my buck.

Does anyone have a web site of Spanish hotels with their proximity to center of town?

Hi Mildred,

This isn't exactly what you asked for, but it might be worth having a look at:
www.thisistravel.co.uk

About halfway down the left hand side of the home page you'll find a link to "Accommodation Reviews" which will present you with two drop-down menus of, firstly, countries & then a list of towns/cities in each country.

The pros of this site are that the reviews are completely independent (and very honest)& contain links to the hotels' own websites. There are also links to maps of the bigger towns & cities showing the actual locations of the listed hotels, which might be useful in your case.

On the down-side the site can be sluggish to load sometimes & there are some annoying pop-ups.

In general, however, I find it a good site for hotel details.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Here are a few that might be useful:

http://www.hotelsspainonline.com/

http://www.innsofspain.com/

http://www.melia-hotels-spain.com/default.cfm

http://www.nh-hotels.com/servlet/pag...chema=PORTAL30

Also, I have always found Viamichelin.com very useful for brief information about hotels in an area and to determine the distance from the hotel to the nearest large town/city.

regards Ger

Sorry Mildred,

Sorry, I did not explain the reference to Viamichelin.com very well

If you click on the "Michelin Guides" tab, and chose "Hotels", you are asked to choose a city/town and country. Enter the name of the city or town, and it lists al the hotels in the immediate area and how far they are from the city/town center, sorted by distance. Sometimes it offers you the option of increasing the range and lists additional hotels, further out.

Alternately, you can enter the address of the hotel and get the actual driving time and distance to the center of the city.

regards Ger

Thank you all for taking the time to give me the great websites. Was able to find all of the hotels with detailed info and great maps. Makes it quite easy to select from the three possible tour companies. The winner co.says you will be in town in a good hotel and you are. Guess you still get what you pay for. Mildred

If you go to http://www.tripadvisor.com, you can find independent travelers' and travel book reports on numerous hotels.

Agree with even the least poignant posts, but we, having spent mid July in Galicia, would return to the far N and NW - Basque-Galicia.
The Parador in Baiona is super!

On the tours the hotels are pre determined. What I sought was more information as to quality and location of the hotels I would be assigned to. One is not free other than to select the tour company with the least amount of undesireable hotels
( quality and location). The tour companies for the most part give incomplete or no descriptions of the hotels they use. When I go back alone , I shall have the freedom to select my hotels. Thanks for the additional help.
