hotels in Rome

Three 30 yr old girls heading to Italy, staying in Rome two nights. Can anyone suggest a hotel that is close to nightlife and safe? thank you!

You might want to check out Tripadvisor - also for this board, give us a pricepoint for suggestions in your price range.

That is about 60E per night, which is really LOW for Rome at any time of year.

Cross check reviews on venere.com and tripadvisor.com for a broader range of opinions.

Is that $100/night per person or per night for a triple room? I don't think you'll find a triple for $100/night, but at $300/night you should have some decent options.

Check http://www.the-beehive.com/ and http://www.cross-pollinate.com/ but then do a little research (here or elsewhere) on specific locations of options you are considering. Some of the listings are in better/easier areas than others. I used cross-pollinate when I was just a bit younger than you visiting Rome with two girlfriends, and we were happy with what we ended up with.

p.s. Just checked cross-pollinate for random dates this summer. I'd say you will be hard-pressed to find something with a private bath for $100/night for three. However, there are a few cheap studio options near the Colosseum, by San Clemente and in Monti that will get you close to your budget.

(Unless your budget is $100 per person per night, in which case you shouldn't have much of a problem getting someplace more central and nicer!)

The Beehive is my go-to in Rome, as Leely2 said. I'm also 30 years old, and their options range from a hostel dorm to private apartments, with private rooms in the mix as well. It's near Rome Termini (the train station) which some perceive as a not-so-nice area. I've never had a problem when I've stayed there, most recently last February and I was alone. It's pretty easy to get around the city, so I think you need to clarify your budget and also do some research on what you're interested in staying near so we know what "a good area" means to you. Good luck!

Also in the neighborhood of the Termini station is Hotel Des Artistes. A friend stayed there with his teen-aged daughter and thought is was nice, and was not concerned about the location. They also have a range of accommodations.

i am sorry, i didnt mention that our trip was in February, which we understand is cheaper than summer is $100-$150 total unrealistic? We have narrowed the areas that we want to stay down to piazzo navona or pantheon. Thank you all for the info so far.

The Hotel Adriano is in your area of interest and they have triples. It gets good reviews, but it is above your budget.

The areas you have chosen are the most popular and therefore the most expensive in Rome.

February should be cheaper than summer but IME your budget of ~60-90E for a triple (you need to think in Euro and not USD) is still very low unless you settled for Termini area as mentioned above.

You mention being close to nightlife. Consider the Trastevere Area and B&B Arco de Lauro. It may work for you.

Agree with the Trastevere rec. That's where I stayed when I was under 30. Fun and still quite easy to get around to the big sights.

City House B&B near the Pantheon has a quad with private bath available through www.venere.com for 110 Euro (roughly $150) for two nights at random dates in February.

We stayed at Hotel Campo dei Fiori and highly recommend it. It's a lively, convenient location very close to both the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. In slow times, the rates are very reasonable -- we rented a triple for our girls for close to 160 euros. The hotel has an amazing rooftop terrace with terrific views. February might be a bit too cold to sit out and sip some wine, but in Rome, you never know.

We also rented a triple at Villa San Pio on the Aventine Hill for just 100 euros a night. This room was huge with an amazing bathroom. But you wouldn't be close to the action in the evenings.
