Greetings fellow travellers

We plan to be staying in Prague during August and would welcome any recommendations about hotels that are centrally located. Four star or excellent three stars would be valued.

Any thoughts out there?

We stayed at Hotel Savic (http://www.hotelsavic.cz/hotelsavic/) and really enjoyed our stay there. Very well located near the main square but we were pleasantly surprised that we did not have all the noise - we were there during the World Cup and they would have big screens in the square so people could watch the games, we could hear everyone cheer when someone scored but that was it. There were six of us so we had 3 rooms. They all varied in size and setup, but all were a nice size with beautiful bathrooms, nice armoires, comfortable beds and good a/c.

I stayed at the Hotel Metamorphis, a 32-room hotel very conveniently located on a lane right off Old Town Square. It is a UNESCO Heritage building and very beautiful. The included breakfast is served in the downstairs dining room, which is also. IMO, the pictures on the website don't do the hotel justice; the ones on tripadvisor are slightly better.

I stayed in one of the two top-floor apartments, and there was a glass-enclosed spiral staircase lined with tropical plants leading up to the apartment. The apartment had vaulted ceilings, lush plants, a flat screen TV, granite countertops, and a separate living/dining room. It was about the size of a small condo.

It is literally a one-minute walk from Old Town Square, but was very quiet. I walked nearly everywhere from the hotel--Prague Castle, Wenceslas Square, restaurants. There is also a tourist information center on the square close to the hotel.

FYI,95% of travelers on tripadvisor recommend it.

Many thanks to everyone that took the time to convey their experiences. We have booked a room at the Hotel Paris; very charming and centrally located and now offering a 20% discount on an early booking.

I have seen it listed as a response to other posts, but not specifically mentioned as an answer to your question.
Antik Hotel - just off the main town square, in the direction of the Jewish Quarter. However, as long as you are within a 5 minute walk of the Old Town Square, you are fine. Antik Hotel, on Dlouha Street, is a quieter, less touristy street leading off of the Old Square, whereas some have starbucks and gift shops on them. The room was comfortable and not tiny. Breakfast (included) has fried eggs, pastries, breads, nutella, fruit, coffee and variety of cereals.
