We are 4 Canadians travelling to Denmark for the first time in July 08 and would so appreciate any tips on good hotels in Copenhagen and Vejle .

What do you mean by "good" hotels? High quality and luxury? Or inexpensive and good value?

I stayed at the 71 Nyhavn two Christmases ago. I really liked the location of that hotel. In Nyhavn, lots of pubs and restaurants. Easy walk to the square where the metro and major bus lines stop. Also the walking street starts there. It's on the canal, down toward the end so was quiet although I'm sure the area is much more lively in the summer.

They had a wonderful buffet breakfast that was included in our rate. I stuffed myself silly every morning.

Now, the kicker. The hotel has two parts, one newly renovated and one still in the older building, NOT renovated. If they can't get you rooms in the new part, then I'm not so certain that I'd stay there. Some of the older rooms are literaly the size of a closet.

I figured this out when I did a review on Trip Advisor and saw some terrible reviews with descriptions that I could in no say relate to. I thought they must be talking about a different hotel, and then I finally figured it out. In some ways there ARE two hotels, so if you inquire be sure to ask for the renovated section, NOT the back side of the hotel.

No, we do not need high quality luxury - but clean, and good value sounds wonderful to us.
