Hotels in Athen
Hi,
Wow! I thought booking a hotel in Athens will be prove to be easier than other locations. But I am thoroughly confused because Athens has so many areas.
We are in our late 20s and will be in Athens from May 22nd to May 25th. Our budget is 75 to 100 Euros. I know that Plaka is the most popular area for tourists, but the hotels in that range seem pretty nasty. What about other areas Pssiri or Omonnia Square are these areas close to Plaka? Is public transport easy and fast from there? Spending 25 to 30 euros on a taxi ride is a bit too steep.

Look at Hotel Phidias which is on the other side of the Acropolis, on the lovely pedestrianized walkway there ... 88 Euros until June
Here is the website which clearly shows its location 15 rooms only so HURRY

We are staying at Hotel Phaedra which has a view of the Acropolis and a roof terrace. We are paying 80 euros for a double room with bathroom. I suggest paying for a room with an ensuite as the other rooms are not so good, so I've heard. I have not stayed here before. This is a very basic hotel apparently but has has good reviews.

Omonia area is a bit sketchy, and a bit far to easily walk to Plaka (esp. late at night).
Monastiraki district, just north of Plaka, has semi-budget hotels, is a decent area, and is under 10-15 minute walk to Plaka and main tourist attractions.
The popular Attalos Hotel is also in Monastiraki.
District just south of Acropolis & Plaka is also pretty decent.
Hotels I've previously bookmarked, but Not stayed at, include:
www.herodion.gr
www.acropolisview.gr
Reading TripAdvisor reviews or similar, is advised.

Hi
Try the Tempi Hotel - http://www.tempihotel.gr. Excellent location in the Plaka. Opposite the picturesque Flower Market. Breakfast is not served but there is a kitchen available for guests.
