Athens Challenge

So-We are five people travelling mid June. Two adults, two adult size teens and a nine year old. Does any one have suggestions on Plaka area hotels with "family rooms" that would take five or apartment-style housing. Seems most hotels have a 2 or 3 person limit per room and getting two rooms runs the budget way up . Budget: 220E per night tops. Thanks for any suggestions!

Forget the hotels, take a look at these, you will get more for your money as there are 5 of you. Accommodation of all sizes, just ask back on here if the location is not obvious to you, some are not that central,

What kind of hotel are you looking at? If you go with more budget-y yet centrally located basic, clean non-fancy hotels, you might get rooms from 75-90€, then 2 rooms would not be a problem ... Check the following (and also google "Hotel xxx Trip Advisor" on any that appea to you,l to get candid reviews by recent travelers): Hotels Metropolis, Akropolis Myrtos, Pan, Achilleas, Arethusa, Central, Phidias, Phillipos. ALL are walking distance to all major sights.

If you are only staying 2-3 night this might be a more fruitful search since so many apts. require a longer stay.

You can also try Hotel Attalos. It is well located near Monastraki station. It is a tourist class hotel and have some rooms with up to 4 or 5 beds. It is certainly not the best hotel in town but it is clean, has location and a great rooftop bar with a view to the Acropolis.
We have stayed there 4 times and always liked it.

Most of the hotels have rooms for maximum 4 persons. However, you can ask them if it is possible to add an extra bed in the room. Alternatively, you can book a double and a triple room without surpassing your budget. I think that Central Hotel is a very good option in both cases. Here is the website I found it on http://www.athens-greece.us/athens-h...ls/Central.htm but you can also look for other hotels on the basis of their location (Plaka, Thission, Acropolis), just scroll down.
