Hotels and locations in Barcelona

I am considering two hotels in Barcelona: Hotel Astoria located in L'Eixample barrio, and Hotel Banys Orientals in El Born .
The hotels seem comparable and have similar type of reviews on trip advisor.
Looking for any opinions on location and on these or any other hotels.
Thanks for any assistance.

The Astoria belongs to the Derby Group, which would be my first choice, but the Banys Oriental is fine.

Astoria is in modern, more tranquile and upscale Eixample, while Banys Orientals is in the medieval and vibrant Born district. Both are very central.

Eixample (Astoria): http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.c...barcelona.html

El Born (Banys Orientals): http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.c...s/el-born.html

Baby's oriental is a great location ( just minutes from the metro) and a good location for sightseeing. I haven't stayed there but every time in walk past it I think it looks really nice and would definitely stay there. Eixample is also a good area too but El Born (for me) would be better ( I have stayed in both locations.

, Banys is on one of the busiest ( pedestrian streets ) in Born.
I like a more tranquil area to sleep in.

It depends on your preference .

It's just personal, both locations are fine and both have their fans. No one can predict which you would prefer, unfortunately. I prefer Eixemple myself, but having looked at where Astoria is, that is not where I stay and not where I would want to be in Eixemple. And it is a lot farther to a metro stop. So I'd probably pick the other location.

Just stayed at Banys Orientals for five nights in October. I posted only a two star review on Trip Advisor. Our issue was the awful bathroom that seemed so different from the bedroom part. I know there are reviews mentioning the nice baths etc. So, if you decide on the Banys, it would be a good idea to ask to see the room and bath before you accept it. We had a balcony, quiet at night (pedestrian street), free water bottles and apples in hall by the elevator. The Banys was in a perfect location for us in El Born and I would stay there again, but check room first. The El Born area was our favorite!!!!!

Don't be surprised when you see the Tourist Go Home, Please let us Sleep, etc signs. We loved being there, but also wished at times some of the tourists would go home. : ) Have a great trip!

Thanks to everyone who responded.
I decided to take a flyer on a hotel in the Praktik Hotel chain. A superior room with balcony was in our price range.
I booked at the Garden hotel, although I must say the Praktik bakery looked very enticing
