Narrowing down Barcelona hotels

After much research for my trip in November, I'm down to one of two hotels in Barcelona, either the H10 Raco del Pi or the Hotel Constanza. They are rated 12th and 6th respectively on Trip Advisor and have similar accomodations/services/reviews. I guess what it comes down to is whether I want to be in Barri Gothic or Eixample near Placa Catalunya (but residential neighborhood). For a 30-something traveling alone (not looking for nightlife, necessarily), is one better than the other? Access to the sights and decent restaurants is key...

I've stayed in both areas and for what you want, to INCLUDE access to public transport, you'll be better off IMO near the Placa Catalunya.

amyb,
I much prefer the upscale Eixample to the Barri Gotic, particularly when traveling alone and at night. I just heard from a fellow Fodorite who enjoyed his recent stay at the Constanza very much. I like the Constanza's location, only 3 blocks east of the Passeig de Gracia. This is what I would choose.

Thanks all. I spoke with a fellow traveler at the gym this morning who reiterated the pros of staying in Eixample. I'll be writing to Constanza now...

Thank you!
