Hotels offering washer/dryer are often the more expensive ones. And using the hotel service for them to do your laundry, expensive as well.

My recommendation is ask/look around the neighborhood you are staying in to find coin-op self-service laundry matts or services where you drop off your laundry and they do it for you with a per-piece or by-weight price.

Hi zp,

To help in your search, it is spelled Laundermat.

Actually, it's spelled "laundromat."

They exist almost anywhere, but rarely in hotels. As suggested above, look for coin-operated laundromats in the neighborhood of the hotel.

Rick Steve's guide books generally list the location of laundry facilities in any given city. PJK

Actually, both spellings are accepted.

In Germany it is a Waschsalon

In Italy and Spain it is lavanderia automatica.

If you're asking about European hotels with in-house do-it-yourself washers/dryers - I've never seen one in 50+ trips - although I suspect you may find some in large, inexpensive hotels in the most popular family resorts. In my experience the choices are having the hotel do the laundy (very expensive and can be excrutiatingly slow - and they seem to iron everything - even panties) or searching for a local laundromat - which means staying in a somewhat residential area vs center city may be a good choice.

zphamxx -

there are a lot of people here who would like to help you, but would be easier to help if we had an idea as to where you really want to visit.

NYVISITOR's suggestion is a good one. you can rent an apartment for as short a stay as 3 days in many places.

Many hostels have laundry facilities (as well as kitchen facilities) and you can often get a private room if you book ahead. That may be the cheapest option.
