Hotel Veneto-Rome

Hello,
I am planning a trip to Italy this Spring.
I have researched a few hotels and was looking for some feedback. I have looked on the Rants and Raves page and there is no info on these particular hotels.
Hotel Veneto -Rome (via piemonte)
La Spinosa- Firenze..
one other question, is Firenze near Sienna??
would you reccommend staying in Firenze??
Thanks!

Here is a thread mentioning it fairly favorably. (Found by typing "hotel veneto" into the text box at the top of this page.)

You might also check for comments on tripadvisor.com, if you've not already done so.

Sorry, the above thread is re the Hotel Veneto in Rome.

Try the same search for your hotel in Florence, though I don't know if it's been mentioned here.

Your guidebook should tell you that Siena is about 70 km (43 miles from Florence.) You can travel between the two via train or bus. Which city to stay in depends on your preferences - Florence has more "sights" to offer, and is my preference.

Thank you Lesli. I had seen that comment on the Hotel Veneto (I also did a hotel search), but since it was a somewhat old post I was hoping someone had stayed there recently. It was the hotel in Rome that I was inquiring about. Thanks again.

Keesa, have you found out anything about La Spinosa? I'm also trying really hard to get something on it.

I stayed at the Hotel Veneto on Via Piemonte (betweeen Via Boncompagni and Sicilia) in January 2001 with my friend and we loved it.

The staff was great, they were protective of us as uncles or fathers would be of two girls in their mid 20s in a foreign country. It got be a bit annoying at times, but in the end it showed that they cared about their guests. It gave it a more personalized feel.

I thought the rooms were adorable but my friend didn't (we have opposite taste in decor). The walls were a light pink and the classic furniture was a sort of sage green.

And the breakfast was adequate.

Did I think it was centrally located? Not really, but it won't really matter because you'll be doing lots of walking anyway.
