Hello,
My name is Maria. My husband and I are leaving for Europe in a week. We will be visiting Munich, Zurich, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Vienna, Budapest, Prague and Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad)via train using Europass. I would like some recommendations on hotel/private appartments for under $100. Thank you.

This was about five years ago but we staryed at a darling place called Hotel Rossili, cobblestone walk way , geranium planter boxes outside windows and walking distance to most everything. As I remember, don't think it was much over $100.00 per night. Enjoy your trip!!!

I just got back from Europe in July. In Prague, we found several cheaper hotels in Old Town through an electronic board in one of the Metro stations. Stay in Old Town. Good luck!

I found a B&B by chance in Budapest (neat town) for well under $20 US / night for new year's '96/'97. The hostess was Kinterne Surek Katalin, and her address is : 1158 Budapest XV / molnar Viktor utca 8 / Hungary. Phone (36-1) 272-3282 or 418-1433 or mobil phone (go figure) 06-30-514-583.

I stayed at her very quaint place for 2 days and wished I could have stayed for weeks longer. If her place isn't available, you can meet lots of locals in Kaleti (train) Station who are looking to rent rooms to tourists getting off the trains.

100 bucks bought a lot more hotel back then. Poor Maria was leaving in a week.
One good procrastination deserves another.
