Hotel Suez or Hotel Monge?

Which hotel would you recommend: Hotel Suez or Hotel Monge?

I've contacted just about every hotel which is highly touted on this site and they're all booked for the period we'll be in Paris.

Suez can offer an in-room safe for extra. Monge has no in-room safe, just one in reception. Any comments in storing passport and airline tickets in in-room vs. reception safe?

Thanks in advance for your help.

We hav'nt stayed at the Suez but checked it our for future stays. We would stay there, but always go back to our favorite on the Place de la Madeleine. Suez has a good location, but you might want to consider asking for a quiet room, it faces on the Boul Mich. As for safes, a money belt will suffice if you are concerned about in foom safety.

oh I think we've had many threads and discussions on this topic -- people just vary in their opinions or concerns about that. I don't always even use the in-room safe when one is there, I'll admit, because sometimes I can't figure out how to work them and don't feel like dealing with that with the hotel desk (some need resetting or don't seem to work the way I want). I don't really have that much of value with me, to be honest. I don't carry around extra cash at all, and I keep my ATM and credit card on me. I don't have airline tickets any more, I use etickets most of the time. Sometimes I do leave my passport in there and sometimes I carry it with me. Sometimes I just have those things in a locked suitcase (passport and little extra money).

Anyway, you just have to decide how you feel on your own. I personally am not that comfortable with giving people things for the hotel safe as it's so public.

I would choose the MOnge solely because of location myself, as I like quieter areas. A lot of people would don't care about that or like being around a lot of tourists (and some do, find the crowds and hubbub exciting) would find the Suez much more convenient and a great location. It is more convenient, I'll agree, to main tourist attractions.

My wife and I with our two kids (3 and 4) stayed in hotel Suez september 2003. We had one room with two double beds. The closets were very roomy and the bathroom was large and grate with large windows. The location was perfect, lots of shops and attraction arround specialy the luxenburg garden for the kids. The only problem, our room was facing the main street, which was very noisy.

Can't comment on Hotel Suez, but we really liked Hotel Monge last summer and would stay there again.
