Hotel Saint Jacques Paris ?

I'm thinking of a trip to Paris in about 3 weeks. I've e-mailed tons of hotels for availability. Hotel Saint Jacques offered me a single without ensuite for a great price. Can anyone who has stayed in a non-ensuite room here comment? I'm not sure yet if this is shared or private. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Non-ensuite is a shared bathroom.

JoeTro - I also stayed at the St. Jacques a few years ago as many people mentioned in the other recent post about this hotel. I was in one of the attic rooms that did have en-suite facilities though. However, I found the desk people there to be so helpful with my equiries. Why don't you email them and ask how many rooms share the facilities? If it is on the top floor in my recollection there are not that many rooms there to begin with. You might only be sharing with one room.

Thanks. I e-mailed to ask this question and the reply was that the bathrooms are outside the room, on the floor. Even though I asked how many people share the room, this wasn't responded to. I think I'll try again, as it's important to me ... if it's just me, that basically like having a private bathroom. If it's 5 rooms, that's too many.

Any thoughts on the hotel in general?

I stayed there quite a few years ago, at least four, before the renovations that other posters have mentioned. I loved it! As I said my room was in the attic. I had to walk up one floor. The room was quite large for one person - there was a double bed so maybe it was really for two. There was lot of storage space, a safe plus the usual amenities which were more than I ever had before in a two star hotel. Also there was a book with extensive information about the neighborhood. I would stay again except for the fact that I now rent an apartment when I visit Paris. Oh, it was also convenient to transport. Hopefully they will answer you concerning the facilities. Enjoy your trip!
