Hotel Recommendations - Rome and Florence

Could anyone comment on the following hotels: Rome - Hotel Cesari and Florence - Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni (B&B in Palazzo Strozzi). Any other hotel recommendations for Rome or Florence(looking for around $250 Euro a night and below)?

Cesari is an excellent choice, in location and value.

Best wishes,

Rex

How about the hotel Cristoforo Columbo. it is in the "commercial center of rome" - does that mean its close to the tourist sites?

For Florence, friends who had travelled extensively in Italy recommended the Berchielli, which is right on the Arno. We took their recommendation and liked the hotel quite a lot.

The Cristofor columbo is not anywhere near the main sites. It is a good 20-25 minutes outside of city center. We stayed there last year as part of a tour. Decent hotel, lousy location.

I like the Berchielli, if you can get a room facing the Arno.

Antica torre Tornabuoni is a great choice if you enjoy a more intimate experience.

For true luxury, the Westin Excelsior is unbeatable.
