Hotel Rates Increased Since I booked Room

I booked a room at Hotel Brighton in Paris for 179 Euros per night. I just went on their website and the same room has increased to 198 Euros. Will I have to pay the new rate or the rate I booked my reservation?

Good question. I say if you have any written agreement, you're booked at the previous rate. Rather than suffer with a mystery, write to confirm your rooms at the rate at which they were booked.

Truthfully, as with airlines, different guests in a hotel the same night are usually paying different rates, for a avariety of reasons - most typical is the date of the booking. Some early rooms may go at a reduced rate because they want to cover their minimum # of rooms to break even. Others may be booked by a consolidator. Some might be sold last minute at discount to fill empty spots.

Assume for now that you're getting the rate you wanted, but confirm it. Don't even let on that you know about the rate change. It is likely only applicable to new bookings, but write to confirm! By the way, did you book through their website, or through via another company, agency etc?

You pay the rate that was confirmed to you. The new rate is only for new bookings.
