Hotel near Malpensa, Milan

I am getting in to Milan very late, and I have been trying to locate accomodations close to Malpensa. I am having a difficult determining which places are close to the airport.

My other option is to book in Central Milan and take the train, but I am nervous about getting from Central Station to the hotel. It will be Midnight or later, and I don't want to spring for a taxi into Milan.

We just stayed at the Best Western Cavilieri Corona Malpensa...we arrived around 8pm and left again around 6am...so didn't really have a lot of time in the hotel. They have a shuttle that picked us up at the airport and then delievered us again the next morning. We got the reservation on line and seemed to get a good price as compared to others that were checking out the same time we were. Not sure how late the shuttle runs but we called their 800 number from the airport and they picked us up in a matter of minutes. The hotel is about a 7 minute ride from the airport...it was dark and we didn't see much around that area. We thought it was great for our needs.

There's a Hilton a couple blocks from the Centrale.
Are you planning on staying in Milan for awhile?

The Cervo is inexpensive and three minutes away. They do have a shuttle. We've stayed there twice. Last fall they were renovating, but still open. Not the Hiltion, but not 1/2 as costly, either.

We are staying at Cardano Hotel near Malpensa for our last night. Only problem is that they don't have a restaurant for dinner.

Another option is First Hotel. They have a free shuttle operating and a restaurant open late that's not bad at all - we were pleasantly surprised. It was an economical stay...

We also stayed at First Hotel and can recommend it as a good stay near Malpensa. Dinner was served until 10pm, and they have a quick shuttle to the airport. Just be sure and reserve the shuttle in advance, particularly if you have an early morning flight. If you don't have much time I wouldn't stay in Central Milan - it takes almost an hour to get from there to the airport.

My only concern for this booking is getting to a bed quickly and safely, and economically ;-)

Villa Malpensa, just minutes from the airport. It's the most incredible "airport hotel" I've ever stayed in.

How does one get to these hotels from the central train station in Milan? I am thinking about one for an early morning departure.

From the central station in Milan we took the airport bus. It was 5 euros per person, and takes about an hour. From the airport we took the hotel shuttle to the hotel. Depending on which hotel you are staying at (we were at First Hotel) you may need to contact them to have the shuttle pick you up as they don't come unless they are there to pick up or drop off specific people.

a lot of the malpensa shuttles are not free.. if that matters to you. and reserve space, as suggested,.. or you will be getting a taxi.

il cervo was not very nice, IMHO. we were in the "motel" type part of hotel.
cold.. and tasteless. but i see many here enjoy the place, so i guess there must be nicer rooms elsewhere in the main building?
