Could anyone recommend a relatively inexpensive hotel near Glasgow Prestwick airport? I will be arriving late at night so I want to be close to the airport. Next morning I will need to get into the centre of Glasgow so I don't want to be too far out.

There is a Travel Inn right at the airport - and very inexpensive. They have a free shuttle bus - but with light luggage you could even walk to the terminal.

OOPS - I am so sorry - the Travel Inn is at Glasgow - not Prestwick. I saw the "Glasgow" in your post but completely skipped over the "Prestwick" bit.

A couple of years ago we stayed at a travel lodge on the outskirts of Kilmarnock - probably about 10 miles north of Prestwick, and within easy reach of Glasgow. Will you be driving? If so, that would work - it was quite inexpensive too.

First I have no first hand experience, however, a quick search indicates that most hotels are in the town of Ayr, about 4 miles from the airport. Two miles to Troon. From Ayr or Troon fast train service to downtown Glasgow.

I've stayed in the Travel Inn and it was fine for one night - it's only a short taxi ride from the terminal

Thank you all for your replies. I have in the end gon for the Parkstone Hotel in Prestwick because it is
a) very close to the airport and I will be arriving late
b) it is very close to the train station for me to be able to get into central Glasgow easily
c) very reasonable at £42.50 and
d) very pleasant and helpful people when you phone them.

I will let you know how I get on in about 2 weeks time.
