Hotel near FCO airport ROME?
I am considering booking a flight to Rome with a connection to Florence, its a great deal, but there's a 5 hour lay over before my flight to Florence, if there is a hotel near by that I could check into & take a shower etc. I would go for the deal.
Any recommendations on a hotel near by with a shuttle service to and from FCO.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Much thanks

Fluff, this topic has been coverered a zillion times. Look at the top of your page, and where it says "text search," type this in: rome hotel and airport. Go over to the "topic search" box and highlight Italy. Then press "find." I just checked and 38 messages come up from the archives.

The Hilton is at the airport and is about a 10 minute walk from Terminal C, the int'l arrivals terminal. They have a shuttle van as well if you have a lot of luggage, but I believe you could bring your luggage cart from the arrivals area all the way to the hotel, as they are connected by a sky bridge.
The only drawback may be the price, which may be about $200 for the five hours, as that is their going rate per night. You might contact them to see if they offer specials for extremely short stays.

From a quick look at the website for the airport (adr.it) there do not appear to be any shower facilities in the airport. You might check the site yourself, or call one of the information desk numbers to ask. Another useful site is the world airport guide, the site for Fiumicino airport is worldairportguide.com/Airports/fco/fco.asp

Thanks everyone for all you responses, and you are all totaly right.I am traveling with my sister who hates taking trains, and I've been tring to humour her, but I think I'm going to have to tell her to get over it, it's just a lame idea and I'm embarassed I've wasted your time with such a dumb question.
Thanks again for the hotel info.I'm sure it will be helpful in the futuer.
Again much thanks

Ira, no I can't get the same deal direct I'm flying out of JFK and all the flights land at FCO with a long layover.
I think I'm going to fly round trip from N.Y. to Rome and grin and bear my sisters bithcing( about the train ride) or leave her at home.
I will also be going to Venice plan my wedding for next year, and thought it would be nice to have company( my mom is meeting us in Venice)now I keep singing patato , patato lets call the whole thing off.
Not my wedding but dealing with family in put, I'm over it for God's sake.
Thanks again everyone for your kind suggestions

Grinisa & Texan, thanks for the suggestios,I've been checking into that it makes sense to start in Venice and work my way south.
I have miles on Air France & they are partners with Delta, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the return, becase I will be spending a week on Capri, so I figured I could fly Naples to Venice & Venice to JKF-
Any thoughts???
I've been on about a half dozen consolidator web sites,I'm thinking about biting the bullet and calling a travel agent, although it hurts me to do it.
Again thanks again everyone for your suggestions, this board rules!
