We had room no. 53 which was small but clean. It was a twin bed room (the narrow type of twin), we had a tiny balcony and Eiffel Tower view. Very good value for money. Also the breakfast is extensive as per French standards.

For restaurants do a search for rue Cler restaurants--there were many suggestions. I don't know of but one disclaimer about Florimond and needless to say, I didn't agree with it. There are MANY restaurants in the area. We plan to have a celebratory dinner there in October.

McBetsy,
The hotel/restaurant you are referring to is Le Walt, a four star. Glad to hear that the food is good. We have seen the rooms and they are very well appointed. Each room has a painting to set its theme and the baths are really nice with nice towels and soaps, etc.

Bistrot de Breteuil was the restaurant we were referring to and it was great. thormieux is also near by which has great service, a wonderful restaurant cat, and the food for the fixed menu is hit or miss w/ only one option per night.
And our bed was a true american King, which we paid no extra for (room 39), I guess it was just what was open, and friends had a 2 twin/ queen.

We stayed at the Muguet several years ago and agree that it is a lovely classy little hotel. We requested and received a room on the top floor (6th I think) that had a view of the Eiffel tower from the window. The ceiling was sloped but the room size was pretty good with one of the better bathrooms we've ever had in Paris for a hotel in that price range. I would request this room again just for the great view, the lights on the tower at night are lovely to look at from your own room.
