hotel in London for family with kids
We are trying to find a family friendly hotel that will accommodate a family of four in London. We plan on staying 4 nights at the beginning of our trip to Europe and 1 or 2 nights at the end of our trip. We would like to spend $200 or less a night. Thank you for your help!

Several years ago we stayed in a hotel near Hyde Park - I think the name was the London Elizabeth.
They were able to accomodate the 4 of us in a room. It was a little cramped, but quite acceptable and I remember the price being reasonable. My kids were 7 and 9 at the time.

I forgot to add.....
The London Elizabeth is about a block from the underground - so very convenient for getting places.
While we were there, we had some problems finding restaurants for dinner around the hotel. But a friend of mine stayed there with her family a year or so later and they walked a couple of blocks (the opposite way from the underground station) and found all sorts of places.

I have just been researching this myself. I haven't stayed at any of these so can't personally vouch for them but I've heard the following have rooms for 4 and may be within your budget: The Vicarage, The London Town Hall Country Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and the Premier Lodge.
Good luck!

If you use the search box for the forum, you can bring up a lot of older threads that will be helpfull. Most large hotels don't tend to have rooms for 4. Some of the smaller places will have quad rooms; be aware that most of these won't be to the standard of a typical hotel (no elevator, cramped room, perhaps a bit tattered, - they will normally include breakfast). I've stayed in several - none of which were outstanding, but all served the purpose. For examples, you could search for "hotel Cartwright Crescent", or "hotel norfolk square", locations which have a number of these converted townhouse hotels. Another option might be the Travel Inn chain - they have several central London locations.
