Hotel in Leiden

Could anyone recommend a nice hotel in Leiden. We will be arriving by train from Schiphol and would like to find something centrally located. Thank you for the info.

What kind of hotel are you looking for?
There is a modern golden tulip hotel a 3 minutes walk from the station (and a 10 minutes walk from city center, but there are buses too)(see www.goldentulip.com and look for Netherlands/Leiden)
Or do you prefer a small hotel in the centre of the city.
I never stayed in one of them, but I can trace information when I'm walking arounnd down there one of these days.

Thanks. In the meantime I found out that I don't have much choice. The Golden Tulip hotel and the Holiday Inn are already fully booked. Right now I am looking at the Marienpoel Hotel; which looks quite nice on the website. I prefer not to stay right downtown.

Don't worry about the Golden Tulip being full. We stayed there for five nights on business and it's a very bland lower end business hotel, right across from the train station. I'm sure you can do better.

Hi Jennifer,

I stayed at the Marianpoel last January. It's a simple hotel with small rooms, but it was reasonable and clean. It's about 3 blocks from the train station. I got a deal last year through bookings.org.

I really enjoyed this post. I stayed at the Holiday Inn nearly 30 years ago and still remember renting bicycles and cycling around Leiden on a Sunday.

Thank you all for your help. I did book directly with the hotel and got a good deal for 3 days, including breakfast every morning, free tickets to Keukenhof, museum and boatride. Also one day we have bicycles available for our use. For a little bit extra we upgraded to a junior suite (larger room, kitchenette and private balcony).
