Hotel for 3 nights in Paris

My husband and I are going to Paris for just 3 nights with our 7 year old daughter. I'm considering staying at the Powers Hotel (btwn Champs Elysees & Georges V) or the Jolly Hotel Lotti (btwn Place Vendome and Jardin des Tuileries). I'm looking for something that feels like Paris (as opposed to the Hilton), and that's well-located to do a lot of sightseeing in the short time we're there. Am I right that these 2 fit the bill? The rates are similar, around $300/night. I would love to hear any other suggestions, too. I'm overwhelmed by the choices and I need to make a decision fast bc we're going in 10 days! I've only been to Paris once, and this will be my daughter's first time. I've noticed lots of seasoned travlers on this board, so I'm hoping for some help. Thanks!

Some would say that for that location the $300 a night doesn't in any way, shape, or form "feel like Paris" so unless the hotel has those small rooms that everybody tries to convince you are "the norm" in Paris or doesn't have decent climate control, then why not.

Assume you have read any reviews on TripAdvisor.

Are you looking for a 5* hotel? That's above my budget for Paris.

I prefer the location of the Lotti, all other factors being equal. I've never been inside. I had understood a while ago that it was in need of updating/renovation; I don't know if that took place.

Agree you should check reviews at

The locations are fine for your purposes. I'm sure there are many hotels that could fit that criteria (and I don't stay in that area so don't know them well or their exact pricing). That is a reasonable price for that area for a nice hotel (which is definitely not a 5* price, but more like a nice 3* in that area). Only second hand info, but I think I've heard the Lotti has slipped some, and it generally doesn't look as nice as the Powers. I would choose the Powers if they are the same rate.

My parents made a reservation at the Hotel Chateau Frontenac, 4 stars for early June:

The rate was 200€/night.
My sister (who's studying in Paris) passed by and said it looked lovely. It is decorated 'Parisian' way, so you might want to check it out.

There aren't any 5* hotels in Paris; the category is given as 4*luxe.
The Lotti is a pleasant hotel, and the attic rooms (all of which are nonsmoking) are said to be very nice. We stayed there during the renovations and so didn't see the results, but the hotel is well maintained and in an exellent location. The front desk staff are exceptionally helpful.

My husband and I just returned from Paris on Sunday and stayed at the Hotel Britannique which we loved. The room was a little small but for just the two of us it was perfect. They do have larger rooms since you will be sharing it with your daughter as well. The location of the hotel was wonderful. Here's the link if you are interested in checking it out. We were there for 8 nights and the staff was just wonderful.

Good luck. No matter where you stay, I'm sure you will have a wonderful time.

We love Hotel Brettonnerie (sp?) in the Marais. Reasonable, full sized rooms close to everything.

Have a look at Hotel Beau Manoir, a 4 star hotel that have affordadable rates for the location and range of hotel. It is located near CHamps Elysees, you will have easy access to a lot of sights fromt there. It is totally air conditionned, decorated in the typical French style you are searching for.
Have a look on http://www.hotelbeaumanoir.com
Have a nice trip!

Hi FT,

The Powers is about 6 blks from a Metro stop, as is the Lotti.

See www.mappy.com and www.viamichelin.com

If you don't mind paying less money for a better location, the Hotel Bonaparte has triples for about 160E.

Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th.

My wife and I have 2 favorites in the 6th:
1) Hotel Pas des Calais- right off blvd. St Germaine and around corner from Deux Magots- check on google.
2) Le Sainte Beuve- very nice, small, boutique hotel- also has web site. Is in the 6e.

We spent two nights at the Beau Manoir in an upgraded room, and it was still quite small for the price. The staff were rather cool, and we didn't find much in the way of restaurants in the area. The Lotti's location is much better.

FamilyTraveler, I'm with Ira on this one. If you want something that feels like Paris, the area Hotel Bonaparte is in is wonderful! It's charming, colorful, and well located with regard to attractions and restaurants. It's my favorite area of the city, and the hotel is a bargain for the area. Enjoy the trip! I love Paris. It's one of my favorite cities.
