Hotel du Louvre v. Relais du Louvre
We have reservations at Relais du Louvre, but are intrigued by the Hotel du Louvre. Has anyone stayed there? Is it worth the increase in price?? Can anyone describe the superior/deluxe rooms? As of now, staying at the Hotel du Louvre will cost about $100 more per night. Worth it???? This is our honeymoon as well.

Hi
I haven't stayed at either hotel, but the Hotel du Louvre has a location, in my opinion, more central if I want to be on the right bank (for me, central on the right bank in the 1st is between Palais Royal and Concorde)and
convenient to the metro at Pyramides or Concorde or Tuileries.
The Hotel du L. is more of a luxury hotel, though I don't know when was the last time it was renovated.
'Worth it' is always a personal thing.

I've stayed at the du Louvre many toimes and have enjoyed it imensly. Ask for a room on the exterior, preferabbly with a view of the opera....floor 2 (our 3rd). I think we have stayed in 228 a few times, if my memory serves me. Bathrooms are grand. bedrooms are a little small, but you will not mind it at all....they will arrange for special things..perhaps champagne , choclates and our flowers when you arrive.

Years ago I stayed at the Relais du Louvre,I remember the location was quite good, close to the Louvre...
The room was quite small, but the breakfast was very good..Buffet style with real food( ham, eggs, cheese etc..)
Of course this was long time ago.

We stayed at Hotel du Louvre about 5 years ago and liked it very much. As others have mentioned, the location is fantastic. We were able to look into the windows of the Louvre directly across the street - great view of marble sculptures.
As I recall, the room we stayed in was average in size - it was whatever they call their standard type of room.
Didn't think the room or bathroom were too small or impressively large, but at this point I can't estimate dimensions. I distinctly remember the Annick Goutal products in bathroom - my introduction to Eau d'Hadrien.
Since I am not familiar with Relais du Louvre, I can't offer a direct comparison.

Francophile is correct; they bring you a breakfast tray to the room. You just tell them the night before when you want it delivered. I enjoyed that.
I could watch the news, some french game shows <GRIN> and leisurely enter into my day, after all. It is a vacation. I thought it was very "gracious".
