relais du louvre v. hotel bretonnerie

My trip is scheduled for christmas of 2004 and will serve as a honeymoon. I am trying to decide on which of these two properties to select. Has anyone stayed at either? We are looking for a charming hotel with a nice view and decent sized rooms, both of these hotels are also within our price range. Any information on the surrounding areas would also be beneficial.

They are both well-located but the Relais du Louvre is closer to, of course, the Louvre. It's close to the Seine and pretty much along the areas of 5th and 6th, even the 4th.
It's a very well-regarded hotel. They've got rooms with views of the church.
The Bretonnerie is in the 4th district, the Marais. I've not read about rooms with views there however. The Marais appears to be more lively than the 1st.

If you can read up about the 1st and 4th districts it will help you to decide which area to stay as each of these hotels are quite good.

Have you also checked www.tripadvisor.com for additional comments?

Thanks for the input, I have checked both hotel websites as well as tripadvisor and am impressed with both. We are looking for more charm and probably less "livliness" since this is our honeymoon. From what i've read, the liveliness is within walking distance anyhow.

Personally I would choose Relais du Louvre. I like the way its decorated and furnished besides its location.

I think for a view, the R du Louvre would have an option of either its courtyard, or more impressively, a view of the Louvre or the nearby church.
My preference based on location would be for the Relais.

I have a long file on Paris; if you'd like to see it, email me at
