Paris - Heading to Paris with my father and looking for advice on hotels near the Louvre

I am heading to Paris with my father and we're looking for a hotel near the Louvre/Marais that is reasonably priced (we're not sharing a room so not as important if rooms are small).

We're considering the Hotel Therese, Hotel Brittanique or Le Relais du Louvre. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've stayed at the Relais du Louvre and loved it. That one, I can recommend. I thought the restaurant up the street on Coligny had a great menu, finely prepared food and was reasonably priced, as well. Le Fumoir.

Don't know Relais du Louvre but stayed at Therese and Brittanique (once each). I preferred Therese, but that was when it was first remodeled and cheaper (I think). This was 2002.

The Brighton isn't on your list. But it's across from the Louvre on rue de Rivoli. I hear the Tuileries view rooms on the upper floors are the best.

Like SuzieC, I loved the Relais du Louvre - I've stayed there twice already. The location was awesome, the rooms were nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall, just a nice, charming hotel.

Hi:

Last month we stayed at the Mercure Paris Cusset Opera (~120eur/night). It was <1km straight up Richelieu from the Louvre and about a block from the Richelieu-Drouot metro station. Mercure is part of the Accor chain worldwide and was a nice/convienent hotel with lots of good resturants & shopping in the area as well.

Stayed at the Britannique last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Had a streetside deluxe twin with balcony (with small table and 2 chairs). Great bathroom with shower stall. Price: €187. Excellent location-close to Marais, Notre Dame, Louvre, etc.

SF Tom, don't know when you're going, but if its in the summer, all of the hotels you are considering are offering summer promotional rates. Maybe that will help you decide.

How many *'s, how many $'s, what dates?

Our favorite in the area you are talking about is a 2* called Hotel Andrea. It is on Rue St. Bon around the corner from Rue De Rivoli.

It's perfectly located 4 blocks from Notre Dame, 1 block from Hotel de Ville, 1 block from the Pompidou, 4-5 blocks from the Louvre, recently refurbished, not expensive, has an elevator, and is air-conditioned I think.

Check them out at hotelandrearivoli.com

I have never stayed at either but both L'Hotel Brighton and the Hotel de la Place du Louvre are sister hotels of our favorite hotel, the Hotel des Saints-Peres. All are a part of the Esprit de France hotel chain and both of the options near the Louvre look very nice. Just based on location, I would think the Brighton would be nearest the Louvre, opposite the Tuilleries. Check it out on www.esprit-de-france.com.

For any hotel on the rue de Rivoli, make sure you have great sound-proofing and A/C so you can close the windows.

One that we have used that is close but in a nice quiet area on Rue de la Banque is the Timhotel. It was good, had decent rooms, and was priced well. I guess it will be under 100 Euro for a double. It is a short walk to Louvre. Here is the web site:

Hi aisleseat, the website for Hotel Andrea Rivoli doesn't seem to be the correct one.

The Regina. We were on business and it was paid for, but it was superb. Directly across from The Louvre. The concierge service was outstanding.

Have an enjoyable trip.

Have a look at the 3 star hotel called Hotel Du Pré, it is a lovely and charming hotel between Opera, Louvre and Chatelet, a great location. Being between Louvre, OPera and Latin Quarter and Marais area..it would be perfect for a stay in Paris. They have twin rooms for about 100/115€, reasonable for a 3 star hotel in Paris.
Have a look at the website: http://www.duprehotel.com
Have a nice trip!
